pregnancy

Maintaining a healthy spine is important for both mom and baby as your pregnancy progresses. At Holland Chiropractic Center, we offer prenatal chiropractic care to help you get ready for labor and delivery. You deserve a healthy, pain-free pregnancy. Let’s get you there!

Prenatal Care

Prenatal chiropractic care is an effective and gentle way to address pain and discomfort related to pregnancy. Our chirorpactors are highly trained and certified to offer a comprehensive prenatal chiropractic adjustment for expecting mothers through spinal adjustments and muscle and ligament support.

The biggest thing to look for when searching for a prenatal chiropractor is finding one that is certified in The Websters Technique. The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic sacral analysis and diversified adjustment during pregnancy. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation/SI joint dysfunction. In doing so, neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is facilitated.

The Webster Technique

Webster Technique is a chiropractic technique used during pregnancy to help promote optimal pelvic function. During pregnancy, a mother’s body goes through many changes that cause increased stress on the body, including pelvic misalignment along with torsion and tightening of specific pelvic muscles and ligaments. The resulting tense muscles and ligaments and their effect on the uterus can prevent the baby from assuming the best possible position for birth. Seeing a chiropractor can be intimidating, especially during pregnancy. Let us ease some of those nerves by explaining what to expect. We take a very gentle approach to chiropractic and fully explain each step of the Webster Technique. There are specific muscles and ligaments known to become tense during pregnancy. This technique provides chiropractors with a gentle and effective way to restore pelvic function, allowing the associated muscles and ligaments to relax, and for the uterus to be in the most optimal position for the baby’s growth.

Webster Technique decreases many discomforts associated with pregnancy, encourages ideal alignment, and assists in decreasing complications in the birthing process.

Webster Certification

Our prenatal chiropractors are certified in the Webster Technique through the ICPA (International Chiropractic Pediatric Association). Founded by Dr. Larry Webster in 1986, the ICPA’s mission is to establish and advance the chiropractic family lifestyle by engaging and serving family chiropractors worldwide through evidence-informed practice, supporting excellence in professional skills, and delivering educational resources for family well-being. Dr. Larry Webster also developed the Webster technique to help correct pelvic imbalances, and help women achieve optimal baby positioning.

Dr. Webster’s technique and certification program remains true to its core as it teaches a very specific sacral analysis and adjustment used throughout pregnancy to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation as well as support the numerous benefits the adjustment has to offer women of all ages.

Webster Technique decreases many discomforts associated with pregnancy, encourages ideal alignment, and assists in decreasing complications in the birthing process.

Webster Technique Benefits

A more comfortable pregnancy. The Webster Technique encourages a balanced nervous system, spinal cord alignment and optimal position of sacrum, pelvis and hips. It helps relieves neck, back and joint pain, increases oxygen and blood flow, reduces nausea, minimizes pain during labor, and can even help with recovery and a reduction in postpartum depression.

Supports optimal positioning of your baby for birth. The Webster Technique supports your body’s natural process of helping your baby assume a head-down position by properly aligning your sacrum and pelvis.

Maximizes baby’s space in your uterus. The Webster’s Technique relieves tension and adjusts the structure of your pelvis and sacrum, allowing for maximum space for your baby to move more freely and re-orient themselves into an ideal birthing position.

Easier labor with fewer interventions. In studies, mom’s who received Webster Technique chiropractic adjustments throughout their pregnancy experienced a 25-31% reduction in average labor time. It also reduced the need for Cesarean sections, epidurals, episiotomies, vacuum extractions, forceps, and other birth interventions.

Proper development and function of the nervous system. Your nervous system is the highest form of communication, connecting all systems within the body, including your reproductive system. The Webster Technique relieves tension and blockages, and helps promote healthy communication from the nervous system to the rest of your body.
